Privacy Policy

Overview
YAMLTool ("we", "us") provides free, browser-based tools for converting YAML into other formats. This policy explains, plainly, what happens to your data when you use this site. The short version: your YAML content is processed entirely on your own device and is never transmitted to us.
Your files and pasted content
Every conversion tool on this site runs client-side, using JavaScript executing in your browser. When you upload a file or paste YAML into the editor, that content is parsed and converted locally — it is never sent to our servers, stored in a database, or logged anywhere, because no such upload or storage mechanism exists in this application. We have no ability to see, access, or recover anything you convert.
Local storage
We use your browser's localStorage for exactly one purpose: remembering whether you've chosen light or dark mode, so the site doesn't flash the wrong theme on your next visit. This preference is stored only on your device and is never transmitted to us.
Cookies and tracking
We do not use tracking cookies, and we do not currently run any analytics or advertising scripts on this site. If that ever changes, this policy will be updated first to reflect it.
Third-party services
This site loads web fonts from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com / fonts.gstatic.com). Loading a font from Google's servers means your browser sends a request directly to Google, which — like any web request — includes your IP address. Google's handling of that request is governed by Google's own privacy policy. This is the only third-party network request made by the site during normal use; no YAML content is ever part of it.
Hosting logs
Like virtually any website, our hosting provider may keep standard server access logs (such as IP address, browser type, and requested page) for security and reliability purposes. These logs relate to which pages were requested — never to the content of anything you type, paste, or upload into a converter.
Children's privacy
This site is a general-purpose developer utility and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, of any age, because the site has no data collection mechanism in the first place.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review it periodically.
